In the division’s Executive Development Program you’ll take part in administrating, arranging, assigning and developing a wide range of services, including benefits and compensation, training and development, recruiting and performance management.

Our Human Resources Executive Development Program is offered at our corporate offices in either Cincinnati, OH or New York, NY. Classes start in June.
Your professional development begins day one with a combination of structured, hands-on, and classroom-style learning. You will create formal and informal mentor relationships with previous trainees and senior leaders throughout the program. At the end of your first rotation, you will prepare and present a process improvement proposal to our Human Resource Executive Committee. Additional developmental learning courses are just clicks away via our virtual Talent Center.
Throughout your 24 months in the program, you will rotate through multiple areas of Human Resources to gain a better understanding of our associates and become a well-rounded executive. As a Human Resources Manager, some of your responsibilities will include: developing succession plans, driving employee engagement strategies, analyzing benefits and compensation trends, recruiting talented executives, and setting the stage for the future of HR in our organization. You will have the opportunity to develop management skills by leading teams and processes, and you will be empowered to manage projects from start to finish that impact business strategies.
As an Executive Development Program Trainee, you are part of a fast-track program with the hope and expectation that you will one day become a leader in our company. You will receive a customizable Learning Plan and Talent Profile, which will allow your supervisor to help you reach your career aspirations each step of the way. On a regular basis, you will interact with senior executives and business partners through various special projects to gain exposure and learn from industry leaders.
A Human Resources Executive works within the professional business function that oversee's the management and development of an organization's workforce. With the advancement of technology and increased globalization, the strategic management of human capital is complex and interesting. Macy's Human Resources team is comprised of many important business functions such as Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, Labor Relations, Benefits, and Compensation.
The Human Resources Executive Development Program is a 2-year rotational program. During your 2-year program, you will experience 3 rotational assignments designed to give you practical experience in the art and science of human resources. At the end of the 2-year rotational program, you will have a big-picture view of how Macy's HR functional experts support business strategies through HR and Talent initiatives.
Analysts/Coordinators learn the operational components of an HR function while receiving significant exposure and development. This is a developmental role that prepares you for a Manager position.
HR Managers are given direct HR responsibility and are accountable for the productivity and results of their assigned area. This is a developmental role that prepares you for a Director position.
HR Directors supervise a team of direct reports and oversee the department's productivity and results.
HR VPs develop the overall strategy for their department and oversee the department's productivity and results.
HR GVPs lead the overall strategy and productivity of multiple HR departments.
In these senior level positions, HR Executives set the enterprise-level strategic direction for their function.
First things first, you will need a bachelor’s degree and have a cumulative 3.0+ GPA from an accredited university. All majors will be considered. You will need to have a sincere passion for engaging with people, and the communication skills to match.
Leadership skills are essential and this includes professional business ethics, assertiveness, and an aptitude for helping others solve problems. A sincere passion for engaging with people and excellent communication skills are a must. Along with this you will need to have a strong business understanding including the ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and manage complex relationships.
