In conjunction with your team, you’ll develop user stories as part of an Agile project framework. You’ll also take the lead in championing the needs of key stakeholders as products make their way from the drawing board to store shelves and participate in cross-functional teams, proactively identifying problems and collaborating on their solutions.
Our Product Management Executive Development Program is offered at our macys.com offices in San Francisco, CA. Classes start in August.
Professional development begins on day one with a combination of structured, hands-on, and classroom-style learning. During the first phase of the program, you will spend some time with a mentor assigned by your manager to assist in leadership best-practices and help you grow through continuous constructive feedback. You’ll spend the your first few months with your team shadowing and learning. Every two weeks you will meet with your fellow EDP trainees in sharing your experiences and learning leadership and presentation skills from our Learning and Development team. Every quarter, you will attend the Executive Speaker Series where you will hear an executive or team present on the projects they are currently working on. You will continue to learn every day as you work through problems and projects. Supplemental learning courses are always just clicks away via our virtual Talent Center.
In this role, you will assist in writing user stories as part of an agile project framework that directly supports primary objectives of the project. You will work with others to champion the needs of the business teams and stakeholders throughout the development process, ensuring that what is delivered meets the original goals and objectives of the project. You will work to gather input from a variety of internal and external sources to define product concepts, respond to the needs of customers throughout the development process.
First things first, you will need a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university by the time you start with us, and a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred in Marketing, MIS, Business, Computer Science, or similar majors.
We’ve also determined a few qualities that we seek in candidates. Intellectual curiosity, a positive attitude, and self-motivation are a great start. Beyond that, you should have a sincere passion for engaging with people—and the communication skills to match. We are also looking for leadership experience that includes professional business ethics, assertiveness, and an aptitude for helping others solve problems. Having a good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are key to success in this position. Having the knowledge of the Internet and product marketing, product/program management, and business development is strongly preferred. Being passionate about building great products and solving customer/business problems is a must. To round out your skillset, you should possess strong business acumen, with the ability to analyze data and be able to understand how to build customer focused designs.
