A Macy’s Design internship puts you at the forefront of corporate private brand design. And with our growing collection of successful lines, that’s just where you want to be.
You’ll work as an integral part of a Macy’s Design team, with a focus on a specific product line. As you might expect, in this program you’ll learn the design process in the scope of product development. In addition, Macy’s Design interns regularly communicate with overseas offices as well as coordinate with the global vendor community and merchant partners for private brand line development strategy.
But, just as important to your future, you’ll sharpen your presentation, communications and time management skills, too. All while refining your business acumen.
Our Design Summer Internship is offered at our corporate offices in New York City. Classes start in June.
Professional development begins on day one with a combination of structured classes and in-office experiences. During the 8-week paid internship you will work with business partners on your assigned team as well as other key executives across the organization. The structured all-intern sessions will give you an opportunity to network with 100+ headquarter interns while learning about retail innovation and Macy’s big-picture business strategies. You will complete a collaborative group project and present your recommendation to key leaders. At the end of the eight weeks, you will receive performance feedback from your assigned team and leave the internship program with a greater understanding of how you, the Designer, impacts Macy’s success.
As a Design intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and make an impact from the start. Working with a team of design and product experts, you will gain exposure to areas such as: material selection, color palettes, patterns and prints, sourcing, and production. You will learn the importance of collaboration across teams to drive sales and profitability. At the end of the eight weeks you will leave the internship program with a greater understanding of the Product Life Cycle from concept to customer.
This is your opportunity to join an organization dedicated to developing its employees and providing executives with the necessary tools to be successful. In addition to learning about Macy’s Private Brands, the internship will provide you with exposure to Macy’s total business model and determine where your skill sets are best matched. The goal at the end of the eight-weeks is to provide full time job offers to interns who demonstrate the understanding and ability to deliver results within the organization.
