Interview Process

Getting Started

Start your internship search here, where you can learn about our available opportunities across the country in a variety of business functions. Our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn pages are also great resources to research the company and connect with our recruiting team.

Candidate Selection

Virtual

  1. Submit your application here and we’ll review your resume and qualifications.
  2. Our recruiting team selects students for an initial interview based on academic performance, work experience, and involvement in community and student organizations.
  3. You will be contacted by phone or email regarding the status of your application and if you are selected for a first-round interview. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in an online information session to learn more about the company and ask questions about the specific role for which you’ve applied.

On-Campus

  1. After meeting our team at the career fair and/or information session you will be given more specific application instructions. While each campus is different, you’ll most commonly submit your resume through your school’s career services website in order to be considered for a position.
  2. Our recruiting team selects students for an initial interview based on academic performance, work experience, and involvement in community and student organizations.
  3. If selected, you will be contacted by the recruiter to sign-up for an on-campus interview slot through your school’s career services website.

Interviews

Virtual

Most commonly involves two 30-minute interviews conducted by phone or webcam with a member of our recruiting team or Macy’s executive, giving us the opportunity to speak directly about your interest in the company and qualifications for the role.

On-Campus

Typically consists of two 30-minute interviews on-campus with Macy’s executives. This is a great way for us to get to know you, learn about your background and career goals, and evaluate your potential fit for the program.

Hiring Decision

We will make a hiring decision for intern candidates based on your initial virtual or on-campus interviews. You will be contact by phone or email regarding our hiring decision, typically within two weeks. If selected, you’ll receive the details of your offer and the date in which we need your final decision.
