Marketing Analytics & Marketing Systems

Data and Systems are critical to building successful marketing campaigns and business strategies.

As an Analytics and Systems intern, you will work on identifying opportunities to drive the business – from sales and inventory productivity to site traffic and conversation – while building your foundation with a world class analytics and systems group.

Locations and Start Dates

Our Marketing Analytics and Systems Executive Development Program is offered at our macys.com offices in San Francisco, CA. Classes start in August.

Training

Professional development begins on day one of your internship with a combination of structured, hands-on, and classroom-style learning. During internship program, you will spend some time with a mentor assigned by your manager to assist in leadership best-practices and help you grow through continuous constructive feedback. You’ll spend time with your team shadowing and learning. You will attend classroom training to learn leadership and presentation skills from our Learning and Development team. You will also have the opportunity to attend the Executive Speaker Series where you will hear an executive or team present on the projects they are currently working on.

Impact

In the Marketing Analyst role, you will provide key insights and business intelligence to internal business partners. The team is organized into marketing, site, customer, and business analytics teams and is responsible for producing over 1,000 reporting and analytics deliverables annually across a range of analysis topics including marketing effectiveness, promotional offers, site performance, mobile usage, digital in-store technology, and customer acquisition and retention.

In the Marketing Systems role, you will be responsible for driving solutions strategy, systems support and delivery, data distribution, and report automation used by different marketing functions and business groups. The systems team supports many marketing functions from Display and Social to Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).

Qualifications

First things first, you will need a solid academic record, and a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred in Marketing, MIS, Business or similar majors.

We’ve also determined a few qualities that we seek in candidates. Intellectual curiosity, a positive attitude, and self-motivation are a great start. Beyond that, you should have a sincere passion for engaging with people—and the communication skills to match. We are also looking for leadership experience that includes professional business ethics, assertiveness, and an aptitude for helping others solve problems. Having a good understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are key to success in this position. Knowledge of online marketing and account management would be beneficial in this role. To round out your skillset, you should possess strong business acumen, with the ability to analyze data and draw conclusions.
